Overview
Cyber-physical systems (CPSs) are the result of THE omnipresent and massive integration of connected computer systems with the physical world. As such, their design and development involves a range of disciplines from mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, to control engineering and robotics, to computer science and informatics. Our school is designed to cover a range of topics touching upon different aspects of CPS design and development for our target audience with various backgrounds. Our speakers are without exception world-renowned leading researchers with complementary expertise.
Speakers
ALESSANDRO ABATE
Title of presentation:
1.Data-driven and model-based quantitative verification of cyber-physical systems, Slides – Part I, Video: YouTube
2.Data-driven and model-based quantitative verification of cyber-physical systems, Slides – Part II, Video: YouTube
Alessandro Abate is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford since 2013. His research interests lie on the analysis, verification, and optimal control of heterogeneous and complex dynamical models – in particular of stochastic hybrid systems – and in their applications in the life sciences and in cyber-physical systems (particularly involving energy and power networks).
FARROKH AMINIFAR
Title of presentation:
How smart are we in electricity networks? Slides, Video: YouTube, Takhtesefid
Farrokh Aminifar is with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran. He has also been collaborating with the Robert W. Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation, Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL, USA, since 2009.
GUL AGHA
Title of Presentation:
Building Scalable Wireless Sensor Networks to Continuously Monitor Civil Infrastructure: A Case Study, Slides
Gul Agha is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research is in the area of programming models and languages for open distributed and embedded computation.
WANG YI
Title of Presentation:
1.Scalable Timing Analysis of CPS, Slides, Video: YouTube, Takhtesefid
2.Scalable Timing Analysis of CPS, Slides, Video: YouTube, Takhtesefid
Wang Yi is a professor of Embedded Systems at Uppsala University, since 2009. His interests are in models, algorithms and software tools for building and analyzing computer systems in a systematic manner to ensure predictable behaviors.

Professor Ramin Tavakoli’s specialties are Architecture Description Languages, AUTOSAR, EAST-ADL, Model-based Software Development, Requirements Engineering, Software Product Line Engineering and Software Reuse.
The summer school was a great event: fantastically organized with fascinating lectures and a distinguished audience involving the speakers in exciting discussions during the talks as well as during the breaks. In the light of the school, interesting insights at the edge of various fields of research were gained in the area of cyber-physical systems. I would love to see this event continue and reach international visibility not only in the context of teaching but also in the context of an international research cooperation.
