In this talk, we go over a history of financial markets development and at the same time the finance academia’s evolution. We explore the historical interaction of finance academia vs the actual markets to hopefully understand whether research can be an engine to developing and designing markets. Topics like option pricing, Modigliani-Miller Theorem, stock market anomalies are discussed.
Shayan Dashmiz is PhD student of finance in Columbia Business School. He did his masters in LSE and his bachelor in Sharif University. His research focuses on financial intermediation interacted with asset pricing and development.
