Development Economics

Development Economics is a field covering a wide ranges of topics related to developing countries such as poverty and inequality, growth, trade and industrial policy, labour markets, migration, institutions, education, credit market, gender and development, social assistance, and environment. From microeconomic perspective, development economics studies household and individual behaviour under different types of market failures with instruction on how to design policies and institutions to alleviate market failure. From macroeconomic perspective, main concepts in development economics are economic growth, structural transformation, financial development and other macroeconomic issues relevant for low-income countries. The master of Development Economics at TeIAS aims at presenting an up-to-date knowledge of the field for students and developing ability to understand and critique research in development economics.
