Overview

This course is intended to introduce the basic concepts of corporate finance with an eye on the academic research. Participants are expected to be familiar with basic stock and firm valuations. We start with a brief summary of corporate finance in the form of a class discussion. We then introduce agency problems associated with corporations, and governance mechanisms dealing with those problems. We will also talk briefly about capital structure, equity financing and rnergers and acquisitions.

Biography

Mandi Mohseni is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Mays Business School of Texas A&M University. He received his Ph.D. in finance in 2015 from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, and his M.Sc and B.Sc. degrees in industrial engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Iran. His current research focuses on corporate governance, control rights, and CEO contracts.
